Save Our Grassroots is a national movement to protect Britain’s most iconic community sports grounds and green spaces using humour, pride, and togetherness to spark action.
Our grassroots pitches are the heart of our communities; they’re where we scored our first goal, met our best mates, took our kids for kickabouts, and turned up rain or shine. But flooding, waterlogging, and extreme weather are putting these cherished places at risk.
This campaign taps into what makes us British: our love for the outdoors, our unbeatable team spirit, our dry wit, and our belief that when something’s under threat, we roll up our sleeves and save it.
Launched in 2024, Save Our Grassroots united over 100 charities, sports clubs and community leaders to show Britain’s love for the pitches we’re losing to extreme weather.
With support from major athletes, environmental champions and everyday players, the campaign reached more than 200 million people, trended across social media, and created a national groundswell of support to protect the game at its roots.
This season, we’re taking Save Our Grassroots back to the floodplains – with a new round of community-led events that celebrate sport, pride and local action. Working with local clubs, councils and nature organisations, each event will spotlight how nature-based solutions can protect the fields that bring us together.
